Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on August 1, 2021, a prisoner sentenced to death for murder was executed in Amol Prison.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner sentenced to death for murder was hanged in Amol Prison at dawn on August 1, 2021.

 

The “Breathing in Confinement” has confirmed the identity of this prisoner as a 30-year-old man named Hossein Hedayati.

 

“Hossein Hedayati was innocent. Everyone knew that he had not committed murder. The murder was committed by another person, and Hossein pleaded guilty to save him. The judge however, knowingly sentenced Hossein to death,” said an informed source to the reporter of the Breathing in Confinement.

 

As of this writing, this execution has not been announced by the state media.

 

According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 316 prisoners were executed in Iran in the past one year (October 10, 2020 – October 10, 2021), 85% of whom were hanged in secret.
