Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Wednesday, 11 December 2024, the death sentence of a prisoner who had previously been arrested and sentenced to execution on drug related charges was carried out in Greater Tehran Prison.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the prisoner, identified as Naser Shahoozehi, was executed in Fashafouyeh Prison on Wednesday morning.

Based on information provided by the reported of Breathing in Confinement, Naser Shahoozehi, a 55-year-old son of Ali Khan, was arrested four years ago on charges related to “drug offenses” and subsequently sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out on the morning of Wednesday, 11 December, in Greater Tehran Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
