Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, January 2, 2022, a Baluch prisoner who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug related charges was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a Baluch prisoner named Mohammad Salarzehi, who had been arrested and sentenced to death on drug charges, was executed at dawn on Sunday, January 2, 2022, in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. He had been imprisoned in Adelabad prison in Shiraz for the last two years.
The execution of this prisoner took place secretly and without the prior knowledge of his family.
The execution of this prisoner has not yet been reported in the state media.
According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 316 prisoners have been executed in Iran over the past year (October 10, 2020 – October 10, 2021), 85% of which have been carried out in secret.
