Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, two prisoners were hanged in Sabzevar Prison on “drug related charges.”
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the identities of the prisoners have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Mousa Reza Ebrahimi and Reza Zardkoohi.
According to reports received by Breathing in Confinement, Hadi Mousa Reza Ebrahimi, 24, and Reza Zardkoohi, 31, had previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offenses” and sentenced to death. Along with these prisoners, another prisoner facing execution for “murder” was saved from death by the payment of blood money and returned to the ward. It was also reported that the night before the execution, the families of these prisoners gathered in front of Sabzevar Prison, demanding the cancellation of their loved ones’ death sentences.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official sources.
