A report on execution of a prisoner in Khorramabad Central Prison

Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of a prisoner who had previously been arrested on charges of murder was carried out on the morning of April 18, 2020, in Khorramabad Central Prison.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, an inmate who had been imprisoned in Khorramabad Central Prison since 2016, was executed on the morning of April 18, 2020. Breathing in Confinement has identified the prisoner as Mohammad Javanmard from the County of Alashatr.
“Mohammad Javanmard, 38, father of two young daughters, was a livestock farmer. On the day of incident, he went out to water his sheep, where he got in a scuffle with three men over the water. When the three were trying to take Muhammad’s gun, it accidentally fired and killed one of them. Mohammad Javanmard did not intend to kill anyone, and this just happened inadvertently. Javanmard family tried hard to to obtain the consent of victims’ family. However, they unfortunately did not accept to pardon Mohammad. “They even were offered a blood money several times, but they refused,” as informed source reported to Breathing in Confinement.
It is noteworthy that Iran has the highest number of executions per capita in the world, and has been repeatedly condemned by the international human rights organizations.
