Corona virus threatens prisoners’ lives; Ali Younesi, a detained university student captured Covid-19

Breathing in Confinement: Ali Younesi, a computer engineering student at Sharif University of Technology, and a gold medalist in the International Astronomy Olympiad has captured Covid-19 in Ward 209 at Evin Prison.
Reza Younesi, Ali’s brother, wrote on his personal Twitter page: “After two and a half weeks, Ali Younesi called us yesterday, saying he had not been able to make a phone call last week because of being ill with Covid-19 (although he was allowed to do so). Three days ago, after 59 days in solitary confinement, Ali was transferred to a small cell where he and eight others are being kept in custody. Earlier today, my parents and the family of Amir Hossein Moradi went to Evin Prison to visit their children for the first time after 62 days. The families, however, were denied the right of seeing their children. The lawyer is yet to be permitted to intervene in the case. ”
In addition last week, the family’s lawyer was evicted from the court,” reported Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran.
Ali Younesi has contracted Coronavirus while after two months of being in custody at solitary confinement, he is still being held at the security ward of 209.
Another student of Sharif University, Amir Hossein Moradi, also is still being held in Evin Prison in an undetermined situation.
It is noteworthy that Ali Younesi and Amir Hassan Moradi, two students of Sharif University, were arrested on April 11, 2020. According to their family and friends, after being arrested, both students, severely beaten with bloody heads and faces were taken to their homes for search and inspection.
