Following drug poisoning, Maryam Ebrahimvand is transferred from women ward of Evin Prison to the prison’s medical center

Breathing in Confinement: Friday, September 18, 2020, the imprisoned movie director, Maryam Ebrahimvand, was transferred to the prison’s medical center due to drug poisoning. After a night in the medical center, she was returned back to the Evin’s political women ward.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Maryam Ebrahimvand, the movie director imprisoned in the political women ward of Evin Prison, was transferred to Evin Prison Medical Center on Friday night, September 18, 2020, due to drug poisoning. Ms. Ebrahimvand was hospitalized in the medical center overnight and being partially recovered, was returned back to the women’s ward.

 

“Ms. Ebrahimvand developed a drug poisoning due to the interaction between her previous medications and her new pill. She therefore, was taken to the prison’s medical center on the same night,” an informed source told the Breathing in Confinement. “The officials did not take her to the hospital, and only admitted her to the prison’s medical center. She was returned back to the ward on Saturday September 19. She is currently being held in the quarantine at Evin Prison’s political women ward and will be transferred to the ward after14 days,” the source added.

 

Maryam Ibrahimvand is a movie director who has been held in prison in an undecided condition for more than 26 months.

 

The IRGC has complained against Ms. Ebrahimvand for “spreading lies with the intention of disturbing the public mind” because of her posts on her Instagram page, as well as pressuring the youth and encouraging them to emigrate abroad, plus “making ‘pornographic movie’ named September 24 (a narrative about the Mena incident in Saudi Arabia). After appearing the second court hearing, held on June 22, in Branch 1059 of the Government Employees’ Court, she is awaiting the court’s decision.
