Breathing in Confinement: On Monday, April 20, Ismail Abdi the teacher prisoner, was detained in Evin Prison where he had gone to Prosecutor’s Office to extend his leave and to find out more about the Judiciary’s circular on releasing the prisoners.
On Monday, April 20, Hossein Taj, Mr. Abdi’s lawyer, wrote on his Twitter page: “Earlier today, Ismail Abdi went to Supervision Department of Evin Prison for extending his furlough. His request, however, was rejected, and to serve his sentence, he was sent back to the jail,” Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran reported.
Whereas, the Deputy Chief Justice announced last night that the furloughs have been extended until April 29!”
The reason for his detainment as well as the cause of the Sentence Implementation Department’s reluctance in running the directive of Chief Justice on releasing Mr. Abdi, Mr. Beheshti, and the others are yet to be known.
