Breathing in Confinement: Reza Vaseghi, a civil activist from Azerbaijan-Iran, who is serving his two-year sentence in Ardabil Prison, returned to prison on Wednesday, November 24, at the end of his leave.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, yesterday, Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Reza Vaseghi returned to Ardabil Prison at the end of his leave.

 

Reza Vaseghi, who is serving his two-year sentence in Ardabil prison, had been recently sent on a short-term leave.

 

Mr. Vaseghi was arrested along with his older brother Ali Vaseghi in November 2020, after appearing in the Sentence Implementation Unit of Ardabil Courthouse and was transferred to Ardabil Central Prison to serve his two-year sentence.

 

On October 5, 2020, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Appeals in Ardabil sentenced each of the Vaseghi brothers to two years in prison on charges of “complicity in conspiracy to commit a crime against national security by printing pamphlets and propaganda against the regime.”
