Risk of being executed for an inmate of Lakan prison in Rasht

Breathing in Confinement – Family members of a prisoner who is sentenced to death, have been called for the last visit at Lakan Prison in Rasht city.

An inmate of Lakan Prison in Rasht, who has been previously arrested on the charge of murder, and so far failed to come to a settlement with the victim’s family members, is about to be executed.

According to the “Breathing in Confinement “- the news organization of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran (PRLI), Mohsen Khojasteh from Astara City, is about to be hanged. This prisoner, who last year was arrested and sentenced to death on the charge of premeditated murder, has two children of 11 and 8.  In case of failure to settle with the victim’s next of kins, he will face the death penalty on Thursday, October 31.

“Over the last few days, Mohsen Khojasteh’s daughter and son along with their family members have been gathering in front of the victim’s house begging for a settlement. Up to this moment, however, the victim’s family members have rejected the settlement. Mohsen’s 11-year-old daughter was pleading their consent while crying” said an informed source to the Breathing in Confinement’s reporter.

On Wednesday, October 30, family members of this prisoner have been called for the last visit. And in case that the victim’s family members keep on rejecting the settlement, Mohsen Khojasteh will be hanged on Thursday, October 31.
