Breathing in Confinement: While on leave from prison, an inmate killed his ex-wife and afterward,   went to the police station to confess. He was in prison on a charge of unpaid dowry (the amount of money that at the time of marriage, is mutually agreed to be paid or being committed to be paid by the husband to his wife upon her request).

Seyed Ali Malek Hosseini, Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor in Yasuj, announced another wife murder in Iran on Thursday, August 27, 2020. According to the ILNA news agency, quoting Malek Hosseini, on Monday, August 24, using a needle gun, a man killed his ex-wife with whom he had a family dispute for years. He then went to the police station and confessed.

According to Malek Hosseini, the long-lasting disputes between the couple caused the man to severely injure his wife in the face. Being deliberately injured, the woman filed a dowry claim against his husband. When committed the crime, the husband had already served his prison sentence for the offense of injuring his wife. He, however, was still in prison as a financial debtor, on a charge of unpaid dowry as well as an unpaid ransom for the imposed injury. So as per the law, he was eligible to be granted a furlough. But while on leave, in the village of Sepidar in Boyer-Ahmad City, he killed his ex-wife and fled. However, as he was being searched by the police he had to go to the police station and confess.
