Arsham Rezaei catches Coronavirus in Rajai Shahr prison

Breathing in Confinement: After being tested positive for Covid-19, Arsham Rezaei, the political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison, was transferred to the safe ward (quarantine) of Rajai Shahr Prison on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Arsham Rezaei, having been tested test positive for the coronavirus, was transferred to the quarantine ward of Rajai Shahr Prison. Mr. Rezaei has caught  Coronavirus, while 2 months ago it was claimed that all of the prisoners in Rajai Shahr have received two doses of Sinopharm vaccine.

 

Arsham Rezaei was arrested on January 7, 2019, by IRGC intelligence forces in Tehran. On November 13 of the same year, he was temporary released from Evin Prison on a bail of 200 million Tomans awaiting the trial.

 

Without a prior notice, the trial was held on February 26, 2019 in Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Mohammad Moghiseh, where Arsham Rezaei having been denied the right to counsel, was sentenced to a total of 8 years and 6 months in prison for “Propaganda activities against the regime, conspiracy to act against national security, and offending the Supreme Leader.” The sentence was finally upheld by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals in Tehran, presided over by Judge Seyed Ahmad Zargar. Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, i.e. 5 years of imprisonment, was considered enforceable on him for the “Conspiracy to act against national security.”
