Breathing in Confinement: Reza Younesi, brother of Ali Younesi, a detained student at Sharif University, reported that security forces were trying to trick Ali Younesi into obtaining a forced confession under the pretext of meeting with the Swedish ambassador or officials.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran; Reza Younesi wrote on his twitter account:” Last week, interrogators tried to deceive Ali with offering him to visit Sweden Embassy in Tehran and have a conversation with the Swedish ambassador & some other diplomats. Ali refused and said he will not attend any meeting until he has access to own lawyer”.

Reza Younesi denied the existence of such a meeting by the Swedish embassy and wrote:” I’ve informed Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iran intelligence service is abusing of the title of Swedish ambassador& embassy in Iran for forced confessions & recording of televised confession”

Reza Younesi pointed to the interrogators’ new methods of obtaining forced confessions from Ali and his friend Amir Hossein Moradi and said:” Although the deception of “meeting w/ Swedish diplomats” did not succeed, they are still using threats & deception to make televised confession. They have threatened that if Ali & his friend do not confess, they will receive heavy sentences in court”.
It needs to be mentioned that Ali Younesi, a gold medalist of the World Astronomy Olympiad, and Amir Hossein Moradi, a silver medalist of the National Astronomy Olympiad, have been detained since April 10, 2020, and are being held in Ward 209 in Evin Prison
