Breathing in Confinement: On Thursday, December 31, 2020, after 13 years in prison, Mohammad Hassan Rezaei, who was only 16 at the time of the alleged crime in 2007, was executed in Lakan Prison in Rasht.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Human League in Iran, disregarding the Amnesty International warnings and despite the efforts of human rights activists, Mohammad Hassan Rezaei was executed this morning in Lakan Prison in Rasht.
In 2007, when underage, Mohammad Hassan had been arrested for killing a man in a group fight and was later sentenced to death.
As per the received report, this morning, the family members of Mohammad Hassan Rezaei, who since last night, along with some of their acquaintances had gathered in front of Lakan Prison in Rasht, were informed of his execution. The prisoner’s family has received the body and made arrangements for the funeral.
It should be noted that last week, to serve his death sentence, Mohammad Hassan Rezaei had been transferred to solitary confinement. He, however, was returned back to prison after the execution was stopped.
