More than 2 months after detention of Manouchehr Bakhtiari, no information has been released on his condition

Breathing in Confinement: Seventy days after his arrest, Manouchehr Bakhtiari, a civil activist and the father of Pouya Bakhtiari, one of the protesters killed in the November 2019 nationwide uprisings, is still being held in detention, while no information has been released on his condition. Manouchehr Bakhtiari was arrested on April 29, 2021, after being beaten by security forces at his home in Tehran.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, 70 days after the arrest of Manouchehr Bakhtiari, the father of Pouya Bakhtiari, one of the protesters killed in the November 2019 uprisings, his condition is still unknown.

 

Manouchehr Bakhtiari’s elderly mother posted a video on social media saying that seventy days after her son’s arrest, she was still unaware of his condition and that Mr. Bakhtiari had no contact with his family. In the video, she says that if her son does not call her by Saturday, she will ask all Iranians to gather in front of the Revolutionary Court.
