On the twelfth day of the uprisings, the people of Tehran and Fardis took to the streets

Breathing in Confinement: On July 26, in continuation with the widespread uprisings in Iran and in support of the protests in Khuzestan to water crisis, people in the cities of Tehran, Fardis in Karaj, Hamedan and Kermanshah held protest rallies.

The uprisings began on Thursday, July 15, 2021 and have so far spread to at least 40 cities.

 

On July 26, the people of Tehran staged a protest rally against the government on Jomhuri- Hafez intersection and chanted slogans against Ali Khamenei. Also, from 10:00 pm, a group of people in Fardis in Karaj, took to the streets chanting antigovernmental slogans as well as slogans in support of the people of Khuzestan.

 

Also, the people of Dareh Derizh in Kermanshah blocked all the roads leading to this neighborhood.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the protests against water crisis in Khuzestan spread across the country, including East Azarbaijan, Alborz, Tehran, Kermanshah, Qazvin, Zanjan, Lorestan, Fars, Bushehr and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari.

 

On Monday, July 26, people in Tehran and Karaj held protest rallies and chanted slogans against the government. The protests took place despite the Covid-19 curfew over the past six days in both Tehran and Alborz provinces.

The people chanted slogans such as “The mullah must be killed”, “From Karaj to Khuzestan, solidarity, solidarity”, “Death to the dictator”, “Khamenei! Shame on you, leave the country”.

 

Hamidreza Goodarzi, the deputy governor of Tehran, said about the protests: “The rally was held due to a power outage in the mall, and the reason for the power outage is under investigation. After the mall’s power was cut off, the gathering took place between 11:45 and 12:45 and then ended. There is no gathering currently, and the situation is normal.” Contrary to him however, the videos from the rallies of the people of Tehran at the intersection of Jomhuri and Hafez streets were already broadcasted on social media.

 

Tehran Governor Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpei also said that police were seeking to identify the instigators of the rally.

 

Following the protests in Tehran, the people of Fardis also staged a rally at 10 pm and chanted slogans in support of Khuzestan and against the government.

 

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights News Agency, in Kermanshah, the people of the Dareh Derizh blocked all the roads leading to this neighborhood.

 

In Khuzestan also, protests is on going but access to photos and videos is not passible because of the internet shut down.

 

On the night of July 25, the young protesters in Shadegan rallied and chanted slogans in front of the repressive security forces.
