Protest rally in Tabriz; Increasing the number of detainees

Breathing in Confinement: On July 24, 2021, during the protest rallies of the people of Tabriz in support of the uprisings in Khuzestan, a number of Turk citizens were arrested. According to local sources, around 150 protesters have been arrested some of whom were released on the same day on bail.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a number of activists were arrested on July 24 during the protest rallies of the people in Tabriz.

The names of some of the detainees who have so far been identified by “Breathing in Confinement” are: Parviz Siabi, Nader Sadeghian, Yousef Salahshour, Mohammad Mardi, Davood Rahimi, Shahin Barzegar, Amir Sattari, Vahid Abhari, Mojtaba Abdoli, Shahrooz Barzegar, Vahid Mohammadi, Hossein Qaracheh Daghi, Javad Dehghan, Olduz Ghasemi and Hadi Mohammadi.

 

Among the detainees, Mohammad Mahmoudi and Siamak Koushi were released on bail on July 27. Concurrently, Hadi Mohammadi after being notified of the charge of “disturbing public order,” was temporarily released on bail of 30 million Tomans awaiting the court’s decision. In addition, Vahid Mohammadi, Hossein Qaracheh Daghi, and Javad Dehghan are currently being held in Tabriz Central Prison on the same charge and the same bail.

Olduz Ghasemi has been transferred to the general ward of Tabriz Prison.

 

On Saturday, July 24, 2021, the people of Tabriz rallied in support of the uprisings in Khuzestan which began on the night of Thursday, July 15, against water crisis as well as the mismanagement of the problem.
