Raheleh Ahmadi and Saba Kordafshari returned back to prison at the end of their leaves

Breathing in Confinement: On Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the end of their leaves, Raheleh Ahmadi and her daughter Saba Kordafshari returned back to Evin and Qarchak prisons. Previously on March 14, 2021, Raheleh Ahmadi was granted a sick leave from Evin Prison. Her daughter Saba Kordafshari also after posting bail, was sent on leave on April 3.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, after their requests for leave extension were rejected, Raheleh Ahmadi and Saba Kordafshari were respectively returned back to Evin and Qarchak Prison.

Rahela Ahmadi, Saba Kordafshari’ mother, was granted medical leave on March 14, 2021, on bail. Ms. Ahmadi has been serving a 31-month sentence in the women’s ward of Evin Prison since February 2019. She returned back to prison when prison’s officials rejected her application for her medical leave to be extended. Whereas, because of her ruptured vertebral disc, Ms. Ahmadi needs surgery as well as a two-month rest following it.

Saba Kordafshari was also sent on leave on April 3, 2021. She had been arrested by security forces in June 2019, and in September of the same year, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code and by applying the circular to reduce prison sentences, 7.5 years  of her prison sentence is applicable.
