Suspension Verdicts of 5 Students of Tabriz University Confirmed

Breathing in Confinement – Suspension orders for 5 students of Tabriz University which were issued before by the disciplinary committee, have been approved and will be implemented from next semester.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, the Disciplinary committee of Tabriz University had issued suspension orders of 1 or 2 semesters for 5 students that were approved and will be implemented from next semester.

These students’ names are as follow: Ehsan Pourkheiri, student of Philosophy, 2 semesters suspension, Farhad Shafizadeh, student of Philosophy, 2 semesters suspension, Esmail Mahmoudi, student of Philosophy, 1 semester suspension, Mahmoud Seifian, student of Philosophy, 1 semester suspension, and Omid Ahmadi, student of Computer Engineering, 2 semesters suspension of study.

All of these provisions include backdates and the students are as well deprived of University facilities until end of their education.

These students were summoned and got the orders because of their protest against the presence of Mohammad Hossein Saffar Harandi, former Minister of Culture at the University of Tabriz on 18th May this year and also, attending the rally in support of Kubani on 7th October.

This is to say, earlier, on 11th September this year Farhad Shafizadeh was arrested by Intelligence agents and after 20 days he was released on a bail of 100 million Tomans.

Last week, he was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court in Marivan city on charge of propaganda against the regime.
