Breathing in Confinement February 12, 2015

Breathing in Confinement – Atena Farghdani, political prisoner in Gharchak prison, in Varamin, is in her fourth day of hunger strike.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, the civil activist has gone on hunger strike since 9th of February in Varamin Prison, and at the time only drinks some water.

However, typically, the hunger strikers take some sugar and salt with their water, but despite the urging of friends, she refused this. This issue raises the concerns of possible damages on her health.

Farghdani has stated that her hunger strike is in protest against the inhuman condition for female inmates in Gharchak prison, in Varamin, process of political prisoners transfer, like Negar Haeri, Hakimeh Shokri, Roya Saberi Nejad, and Basmeh Jaboori to Gharchak prison in Varamin, and also against her illegal transfer to this prison and to support her request for immediate return to Evin prison.
