Twenty five years prison sentence for 5 political prisoners in Urmia prison

Breathing in Confinement, December 1, 2020: Five Kurdish citizens from Urmia, imprisoned in the city’s central prison for one year, were sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison.

According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, during the past few days, five citizens from Urmia, named Keyvan Rashuzadeh, Kamran Ghasemi, Omid Saeedi, Abdulaziz Mohammadpour, and Nayeb (Massoud) Hajipour, were each sentenced to five years in prison by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia, on charges of “acting against national security through membership in Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”

As per the report, their hearing session, chaired by Judge Sheikhlou, was held about one week ago. And these political prisoners have recently been officially informed of their sentences.

These five citizens were arrested by Urmia intelligence forces on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, and after a month of being under interrogation, were transferred to the city’s central prison.

Currently, Keyvan Rashuzadeh, Kamran Ghasemi, and Omid Saeedi are being held in the youth ward, Abdulaziz Mohammadpour in dormitory 3, and Nayeb Hajipour in dormitory 1-2 in Urmia Central Prison.
