Report on the Execution of Six Prisoners, Including a Political Prisoner and a Woman, in Qezel Hesar Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Thursday, 16 July 2026: The death sentences of at least six prisoners, including a political prisoner and a woman, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death, were carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, six prisoners, including a political prisoner and a woman, were hanged at dawn on Wednesday, 15 July. The identities of two of the prisoners, Aref Khoshkar and Abbas Nesari (Eidi), had previously been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. A female prisoner named Parvin Chardoli was also among those executed.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the Hamshahri newspaper, four other prisoners were also executed in the same prison. However, the report did not disclose their identities.
Aref Khoshkar, who was arrested during the 2022 protests, had been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court on the charge of “moharebeh” (enmity against God) through carrying and using a weapon and killing a member of the Basij.
Abbas Nesari (Eidi) had previously been arrested on a charge of murder and sentenced to death.
Parvin, a married woman and mother of several children, had previously been arrested on a charge of murder and sentenced to death. According to information received, she had claimed that after leaving the bathroom, she discovered that her husband’s son had secretly filmed her. Following the incident, she killed him in an attempt to delete the footage.
According to Hamshahri, four other prisoners were executed at the same time, although their identities have not been disclosed. The charges against these four prisoners were reported as follows:
One prisoner had been arrested for allegedly murdering a teenager with a Kalashnikov rifle in May 2022 and was subsequently sentenced to death by a Criminal Court.
The second prisoner had been arrested for allegedly murdering his stepson in 2021 and was sentenced to death.
The third prisoner had been arrested for allegedly murdering his former wife’s daughter and was sentenced to death by a Criminal Court.
The fourth prisoner, whose first name was reported as Behzad, had been arrested for allegedly murdering a middle-aged man by shooting him, in collusion with the victim’s wife, and was sentenced to death.
The sentences were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, in Qezel Hesar Prison.

As of the publication of this report, none of the official sources had fully reported these executions, with only the executions of four prisoners having been publicly announced.
Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
