Breathing in Confinement, Saturday, 15 August 2026: At least one prisoner who had been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death was transferred to solitary confinement in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz in preparation for the implementation of his sentence.

According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Saturday, 15 August, at least one death-row prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement in Shiraz Prison in preparation for his execution. The prisoner’s identity has been verified by Breathing in Confinement but is being withheld.

According to reports received, the prisoner, a resident of Marvdasht, had previously been arrested in connection with a case involving a charge of “murder” and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

The transfer of a death-row prisoner to solitary confinement is generally considered a step preceding the implementation of the sentence. However, until the execution is carried out, there remains a possibility that the execution may be halted or the process altered.
