Breathing in Confinement, Thursday, 20 August 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Meshgin Shahr Prison.

According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Meshgin Shahr Prison at dawn on Sunday, 9 August. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Mostafa Bikas.

According to reports received, Mostafa Bikas, 36, a resident of Meshgin Shahr, was arrested six years ago on a charge of “murder” and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. His death sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, 9 August 2026, in Meshgin Shahr Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
