Prisoner Executed in Qezel Hesar Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Tuesday, 21 July 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on a murder charge and sentenced to death was carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Qezel Hesar Prison at dawn on Sunday, 19 July. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Ayoub Mohebbi.
According to the report, Ayoub Mohebbi, from Nurabad, was arrested three years ago on a murder charge and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. His death sentence was carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison in the early hours of Sunday, 19 July 2026.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
