Sentence of imprisonment and flogging for Hojjat Esmatzadeh

Breathing in Confinement: In recent days, Hojjat Esmatzadeh, a civil activist living in Naghadeh, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison as well as 50 lashes.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the civil activist, Hojjat Esmatzadeh, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and 50 lashes. The sentence was issued by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of the City of Naghadeh on charges of “disturbing public order and publishing some images on social media.” Mr. Esmatzadeh’s sentence was issued in absentia and notified to him.
It should be mentioned that Hojjat Esmatzadeh was arrested on November 24, 2021, after being summoned to the detention center of the Intelligence Office in Naghadeh on charges of “membership in illegal groups,” and was transferred to the city’s prison after completing his interrogation.
On November 28, 2021, Hojjat Esmatzadeh was released on bail from Naghadeh Prison awaiting the court’s decision.
