16 Executions Including 2 Public Hangings on One Day

Breathing in Confinement – 16 prisoners were executed in three different areas of the country in Iran.

According to the official and unofficial media reports, 11 prisoners were executed in Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj, 3 others in Birjand and 2 prisoners were hanged in public in Mehr Shahr in Karaj.

HRANA news agency has announced in a report that the death sentences of 11 prisoners including a woman were executed in Ghezelhesar prison in Karaj.

According to this report, these 11 prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinements of Ghezelhesar prison from different prisons, including 4 prisoners from Karaj Central Prison, 4 prisoners from Great Tehran prison, 1 from Ghezelhesar prison, 1 from Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, and 1 female prisoner from an unknown location.

The source has announced the identity of 2 of the executed prisoners as Saeid Saberi and Muslim Bahrami.

The same source reported that three other prisoners, namely Mansoor Zaferani, Yousof Barahooei, and Ghasem Delshad were executed on charge of drug related crimes in Birjand prison, on Sunday July 17.

Also, two men accused of kidnapping and rape, were hanged in public in Mehr Shahr in Karaj, in the morning on Sunday July 17.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the two executed men’s names were “Q.j” and “M.R” and they had been arrested in May 2011.

They were charged with raping a female student in one of the gardens in Kamal Shahr. The victim was their relative.
