3 Prisoners Executed at Central Prison of Uremia

Breathing in Confinement – 3 prisoners in Central Prison of Uremia charged with murder have been executed.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, at 6 o’clock in the morning of 6th January, 3 prisoners, named; Saber Mokhled Mavaneh, Sattar Alipour and Ali Eghbaljoo, were executed in the Central Prison of Uremia by hanging.

Sattar Alipour, from ward 2, and Ali Eghbaljoo, from youth ward in Uremia prison were taken to the gallows.

Saber Mokhled Mavaneh, 29, was one of the political prisoners in ward 3 of this prison who had been charged with murder and sentenced to death.

In 2012, he was charged with “Membership in Komaleh and supporting PEJAK” by branch 1 of the Revolutionary court in Mahabad and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and also, by the branch 16 of appeal court in West Azerbaijan, charged with murder and sentenced to execution based on “Retaliation sentence”.

In 2008, following a verbal altercation, he was attacked by 3 people in Mavaneh village and incidentally, he killed one of them.

This political prisoner went on hunger strike in the last 10 days of political prisoners’ hunger strike in ward 12 of Uremia Prison in solidarity with them and also demanding to be transferred to the political prisoners’ ward.

Political prisoners in ward 12 of Central Prison of Uremia went on hunger strike on 20 November to protest against the prison’s condition and after 33 days, they achieved their demands and ended their hunger strike.

Prisoners
