Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Thursday, November 28, the death sentences of two prisoners convicted on charges related to “drug offenses” were carried out in Yazd Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least two prisoners were executed in Yazd Prison on Thursday, November 28, 2024, for alleged “drug offenses.” The identities of the prisoners, Osman Dahmardeh and Davood Mohammadi Takht Shah, have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
As reported by a Breathing in Confinement correspondent, Osman Dahmardeh, aged 26, son of Sarvar, and Davood Mohammadi Takht Shah, aged 33, son of Ahmad, both from Zahedan, were arrested in 2019 on shared charges related to “drug offenses.” They were sentenced to death despite no drugs being found in their possession at the time of arrest or afterward, and no evidence substantiating the allegations against them. Both prisoners consistently denied the charges of drug possession. The sentences were carried out at dawn on Thursday, November 29, in Yazd Prison.
