Breathing in a Confinement: In the early hours of Saturday, November 4, the death sentences of two Baluch brothers for drug related charges were carried out in Zahedan Prison.

According to ‘Breathing in a Confinement,’ the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the past day, Saturday, November 4, 2023, two Baluch brothers were executed in Zahedan Prison.

The executed prisoners have been identified as Saeed Ali Zahi, 25, and Ismaeil Ali Zahi, 29, father of 2, both construction workers, sons of Nawwab, and residents of Zabol. These two brothers lacked identification documents.

According to reports, ‘These two brothers were arrested in 2021 in the border region of Zabol on drug related charges. They denied their charges and plead not guilty in Zabol Revolutionary Court but were ultimately sentenced to death. Saeed and Ismaeil had recently been transferred from Zabol Prison to Zahedan Prison.’

These prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement in the evening of Thursday for the execution of their sentences. They were finally executed on Saturday morning November 4, without being granted the opportunity to have a final meeting with their families.

As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been officially announced by prison authorities and responsible entities.

According to the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners Rights League in Iran, in the past year, Iranian authorities have executed at least 730 prisoners in various prisons.
