Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, May 21, a prisoner sentenced to death on drug charges was executed in Zahedan Prison.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed for drug-related charges in Zahedan Prison.
The prisoner has been identified as Abdullah Brahui (zirkari) from Zahedan.
In recent days, the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran announced the number of executed prisoners in the past month as 30. Including this prisoner, however, the figure will increase to 31.
After the presidency of Ibrahim Raisi, the number of prisoners executed on drug-related charges has dramatically increased.
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 383 prisoners were executed during the past Persian Year (March 20, 2021. – March 20, 2022), of whom only 34 were reported by the state media, and the rest were carried out in secret.
