Breathing in Confinement: Four Arab political prisoners were transferred from Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz to an unknown location. The death sentences for three of them have already been upheld by the Supreme Court, which is raising the concerns about them being executed.

According to Ahvaz Human Rights Sources, quoting Khakzadegan, on September 20, 2020, three political prisoners sentenced to death, Ali Motiri, Hossein Silavi, and Ali Khosraji, along with another political prisoner, Ali Mojaddam, were transferred from Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz to an unknown location.

In an unfair trial in the Revolutionary Court, Ali Motiri was sentenced to death on charges of murdering two Basijis as well as “war against God”. This sentence has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

According to this report, Ali Khosraji, 26, a resident of Alavi Alley in Ahvaz, and Hossein Silavi, 30, from the City of Ahvaz, were both arrested in May 2017 on charges of participating in armed attacks against security centers in Ahvaz. These Arab prisoners have been both sentenced to death and the sentences have been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Ali Mojaddam, 39, an Arab prisoner from Koot Seyed Saleh in Ahvaz, was arrested by the agents of Ministry of Intelligence on February 9, 2020 along with 14 Arab citizens, including two women.

He has been tried as the first defendant in this case along with other members of the group on charges of participating in armed operations against the security forces and acting against national security as well as having connections with the foreign countries plus forming an opposition group against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Some of these prisoners’ forced confessions have been aired by the IRIBC (Islamic Republic TV). No information has so far been released on this group’s trials and verdicts.
