Ali Kajbaf sentenced to 1.5 years in prison

Breathing in Confinement: Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz sentenced Ali Kajbaf to one year and six months in prison.
On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, Ali Kajbaf was sentenced by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court to one year and six months in prison. If the sentence is upheld by the Court of Appeals, one year of imprisonment will be applicable to him under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code.
According to the verdict, Mr. Kajbaf has been sentenced to one year in prison on charge of “membership in a dissident group” as well as six months in prison for “propaganda against the regime.”
Mr. Kajbaf’s trial had been held in the same branch on Sunday, April 17th.
According to Fereshteh Tabanian, Ali Kajbaf’s lawyer, he has been acquitted of charges of “conspiracy against internal / external security” as well as “illegally leaving the country.”
Ali Kajbaf was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence agents on August 18, 2021, while leaving the country, and was transferred to the detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence in Urmia. He was severely beaten during interrogation in Urmia Prison. Mr. Kajbaf was transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz after spending11 days in detention in Urmia Prison.
Ali Kajbaf was transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz at the end of the interrogation process and was finally released on November 1, 2021, on bail awaiting the trial.
