Rasoul Bodaghi, a member of the Islamshahr Teachers’ Union, sentenced to five years in prison

Breathing in Confinement: Rasoul Bodaghi, a member of the Islamshahr Teachers’ Union, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran to five years in prison as well as a 2-year ban from leaving the country and from residing in Tehran and all neighboring provinces.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners ‘Rights League in Iran, Rasoul Bodaghi, a member of the Islamshahr Teachers’ Union, was sentenced to imprisonment as well as additional punishments.
“Mr. Badaqi was sentenced to four years in prison on charge of ‘gathering and colluding’ and one year in prison for ‘propaganda activities’. Furthermore, as complementary punishments, he was banned from leaving the country and from residing in Tehran and all neighboring provinces for two years,” wrote Ramin Saffarnia, Mr. Bodaghi’s lawyer, on his social media page.
If the Appeal Court upholds the sentence, according to the Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, Mr. Bodaqi will be sentenced to a total of 4 years in prison as the most severe punishment.
The trial of Rasoul Bodaghi and Hamid Ghandi, two members of the Islamshahr Teachers’ Union, was held on Monday, April 4, at Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.
They had previously been summoned to Branch 26 for the investigation into the allegations against them.
