After having tested positive for Covid-19, Bahareh Soleimani goes on sick leave from Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, after having tested positive for Covid-19, Bahareh Soleimani, a political prisoner in Evin Prison, was sent on sick leave. Ms. Soleimani’s Covid test came as positive on February 7, and afterward she was transferred to the women’s quarantine ward of Evin Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Bahareh Soleimani, a political prisoner imprisoned in Evin Prison, was sent on sick leave on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, after having tested positive for Covid-19.
Bahareh Soleimani was transferred to the women’s quarantine ward of Evin Prison on February 7 after her covid test came as positive.
Bahareh Soleimani was arrested on October 16, 2020, by the agents who introduced themselves as security police. In early February 2021, after being interrogated, she was transferred from the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, Ward 2A in Evin Prison, to Evin’s Women Ward. On February 24, 2021, Bahareh Soleimani was temporarily released on bail awaiting the trial.
In August 2021, Ms. Soleimani was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, to six years and eight months in prison on charges of “participation in the management of an illegal group and propaganda activities against the regime.”
On January 2, after appearing in the Sentence Enforcement Unit of Evin Court, Bahareh Soleimani was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.
