Said Shirzad transferred to the quarantine of Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement – Said Shirzad, imprisoned children’s rights activist has been transferred to the quarantine of Evin Prison.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, he had been arrested at his work place in the refinery of Tabriz on June 2nd and was transferred to the quarantine of Evin prison on August 6th.

The authorities had told his family that he will be released on August 5th. However they extended his arrest warrant yesterday for 2 more weeks.

His case has been sent to branch number 16 of the revolutionary court of Tehran.

According to an informed source who wanted to be unknown, Said Shirzad has been charged with “having contact with Ahmed Shaheed” and “human rights activism.”

Said Shirzad had been arrested on August 21, 2012 while helping the people in Ahar city of East Azerbaijan province after the earthquake. He was released on the bail after 19 days.

Said Shirzad was sentenced to 1 year of suspended imprisonment by the branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
