Breathing in Confinement, January 17, 2021: More than 36 days after the political prisoner Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, being beaten by Prison Guards was transferred from Qarchak Prison in Varamin to Ward 2A of Evin Prison, she is still being held in solitary confinement and is denied the right to visit or contact to her family.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the political prisoner Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, is being held in Evin Prison’s Ward 2A. On December 13, 2020, Ms Iraee after being beaten by Qarchak Prison’s special guard, was transferred to Evin Prison’s high security Ward 2A, where she is still being held, while her family members have been since kept unaware of her condition.

According to reports received by Breathing in Confinement, after her transfer, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee was interrogated only for three days and afterward, the interrogators have left her in solitary confinement in undecided condition. Over the last 36 days, Ms. Iraee has not had any contact with her family.

Two weeks ago, due to the pressure of being unaware of her daughter’s situation, Ms. Iraee’s mother developed a heart attack, and since then, she has been hospitalized.

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee who was serving her sentence in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, was summoned to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center on Monday, December 7, 2020. The summon stated that the transfer was for the purpose of a week of interrogation. However, Ms. Iraee, refused the transfer arguing that it was unlawful as she was serving her sentence in prison and as the reasons for the summons was unclear.

Five days after the summon was sent, on Soghra Khodadadi’s order, the prison guards in Qarchak, attacked and beat political prisoners in Ward 8 including Golrokh Ebrahimi, who after being beaten was dragged out of the ward by her hair.

Arash Sadeghi, Ms. Iraee’s husband, who also is being held in Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj, has sent a letter out of prison in which he has expressed his concerns over illegally filing a new case against his wife as well as keeping her in a high security solitary cell.
