Arrest of a retired teacher in Mahabad

Breathing in Confinement: Hossein Hassankhani, a retired teacher and member of the School of Quran in Mahabad, was arrested by security forces on July 10, 2021.
The Board of Directors of the School of Quran, confirming the news announced that: “A case was filed against Kak Hussein on the false charge of ‘propaganda against the regime’. Despite his on-time appearance in the court, no hearing session was held, and to prevent him from defending himself, he was tried in absentia. As such he was sentenced to three months in prison with no evidence being provided. ”
According to the report, the verdict has been upheld in the Court of Appeals.
Mr. Hassankhani, 62, suffers from heart disease and because of having 2 artificial heart valves, needs to be regularly cared for by a specialist doctor.
The retired teacher was sentenced in February 2021 to three months in prison by the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, on charge of “propaganda against the regime.”
Hossein Hassankhani was arrested by security forces on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, and transferred to the Intelligence Detention Center in Mahabad.
