At the end of her leave period,  Alieh Motalebzadeh returns to Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: Yesterday, Alieh Motalebzadeh, a women’s rights activist, returned to Evin Prison at the end of her sick leave.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, August 30, at the end of her leave period, Alieh Motalebzadeh, a political prisoner in Evin, returned to prison. She was sent on leave on July 19 after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

 

Ms. Motalebzadeh was arrested on November 26, 2016, following a telephone summons to the Ministry of Intelligence, and on December 19 of the same year, she was temporarily released from the detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, on a bail of 300 million Tomans, awaiting the trial.

 

In 2017, she was tried by the Revolutionary Court Tehran in, and sentenced to three years in prison on charges of conspiracy against the security of the country as well as propaganda against the regime. The sentence was upheld by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeals in Tehran, presided over by Judge Seyed Ahmad Zargar.

Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 2 years of her sentence, as the most severe punishment, was enforceable on her.

 

She was finally arrested on October 11, 2020, after appearing in the Sentence Enforcement Unit of the Evin Court, and was transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.
