Mohammad Moradi sentenced to pay a fine in the Court of Appeal

Breathing in Confinement: Mohammad Moradi, a civil activist from Tabriz, was sentenced to pay a fine in the Court of Appeals.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the East Azarbaijan Court of Appeals sentenced Mohammad Moradi, an activist from Tabriz, to pay a fine of 25 million rials. Appeal Court also suspended Mr. Moradi’s prison sentence issued by the court of first instance for a period of five years. The court of first instance had been held in Branch 111 of the 2nd Criminal Court of Tabriz, presided over by Reza Foroughi who sentenced Mr. Moradi to 74 lashes as well as 3 months in prison, considering the days he spent in detention, on charges of “disturbing public order by making a fuss and participating in illegal protest rallies.”
Mohammad Moradi was arrested on July 26, 2021, after participating in a protest rally held by the people of Tabriz in support of the uprisings in Khuzestan. After 20 days in detention, Mr. Moradi was released from Tabriz Central Prison on bail, awaiting the trial.
