Hossein Rouintan sentenced to 20 years in prison and to pay a fine

Breathing in Confinement: Hossein Rouintan, a journalist and political activist, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fine payment.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Hossein Rouintan, a journalist and political activist living in Dashtestan, was sentenced by the city’s Revolutionary Court to 20 years in prison and fine payment.
As per the court ruling, Mr. Rouintan was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charge of “acting against the national security,” to one year in prison on charge of “propaganda against the regime,” to five years in prison on charges of “insulting the sacred and Shiite Imams,” to two years in prison on charge of “insulting the founder of the Islamic Revolution as well as the Supreme Leader”, to two years in prison for “spreading lies and disturbing the public mind,” and finally, paying a fine of 15 million tomans.
This verdict was issued by the Revolutionary Court of Dastestan (Borazjan) on March 15, 2022, and if upheld by the Court of Appeals, the sentence of 10 years imprisonment will be applicable to Mr. Rouintan.
