Political prisoners of Rajai Shahr Prison pay tribute to Gholamreza Khosravi

Breathing in Confinement – In Rajai Shahr prison, Karaj, ward 12 prisoners in a ceremony commemorated the fortieth day of Gholamreza Khosravi’s execution.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, during this ceremony several prisoners gave speech and by reading poems, quotes and memories commemorated and cherished Gholamreza Khosravi.

Prisoners were invited to this ceremony by jailed labor activists. The ceremony started at 18:30 in the yard of ward 12. Ceremony started by Asghar Ghatan’s speech about Gholamreza Khosravi’s comportment and remembered him as someone that even prison guards respected him.

After him, Asadollah Hadi, read Gholamreza’s biography described him as a person who resisted for his ideal until very last moment of his life.

After that, Dr. Mohammad Seifzadeh, a charted solicitor who also was Gholamreza’s solicitor, during a legal review of his death sentence, reiterated that Article 186 of the Penal Code, according to which Gholamreza Khosravi was executed. In the new regulation this Article has been eliminated and this court verdict can be described as eligible for judicial prosecution.

Also, Saeid Masori, another political prisoner in this prison, read a mourning poem and threnody in tribute to Gholamreza Khosravi and glorified him.

The next speech was addressed by Reza Shahabi who is in 42nd day of his hunger strike. He first talked about some memories of Gholamreza Khosravi, then referring to the raid of the prison guards in the Section 350 of Evin Prison, added that in return from solitary confinement to the ward, Gholamreza Khosravi always comforted Reza Shahabi and was concerned about his physical condition despite his bad health condition. Reza Shahabi described him as socialist individual who respected dissenting opinions and undertakook to his commitments.

Finally, Shahrokh Zamani, other imprisoned labor activist, read an article in relation to the status of martyrs on several quotes from popular leaders throughout history.

The event ended at 19:12 with performing the “Morghe Sahar” Song by all prisoners.

Indeed, Gholam Reza Khosravi Savadjani was hanged in Rajai Shahr prison, Karaj, in the morning of first of June 2014 on charge of combat by trying to advance the goals of MEK.

He was a political prisoner in the 80s. He was also arrested in 2007 and initially was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and 3 years suspended imprisonment, but, his case reactivated while he was serving his sentence and by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Pir Abbasi he was sentenced to death on charge of Muharebeh.
