Shahriar Shams goes on leave from Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: Shahriar Shams, a political prisoner and one of the detainees of the January 2018 protests, was sent on leave from Evin Prison on Saturday, September 4.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, September 4, 2021, Shahriyar Shams, a political prisoner in Evin Prison, was sent on a 15-day leave on bail. Shahriar Shams was arrested during the January 2018 protests and after spending ten days in detention, was temporarily released from prison awaiting the trial.
The hearing was held in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Abolghasem Salavati, who sentenced Mr. Shams to six years in prison. The sentence was later reduced in Court of Appeals to 4 years, 1 month and 15 days in prison.
Mr. Shams was arrested on July 5, 2020, after appearing in the Sentence Enforcement Unit of the Evin Court, and to serve his sentence, was transferred to Evin Prison.
