Sudden transfer of Payam Shakiba, Mohammad Amirkhizi and Majid Asadi, political prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison to an unknown location

Breathing in Confinement: On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Payam Shakiba, Mohammad Amirkhizi, and Majid Asadi, three political prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison, were transferred to an unknown location. So far, no information has been released about their situation.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, a day after being charged in a new case in Branch 6 of the Evin Prison Prosecutor’s Office, Payam Shakiba, Mohammad Amirkhizi, and Majid Asadi, was taken to an unknown location.

 

“On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 4 am, Payam Shakiba, Mohammad Amirkhizi, and Majid Asadi were informed by the prison authorities that they must appear in the court,” an informed source told the reporter of Breathing in Confinement.

The source continued: “The three inmates, however, refused to do so. But the in-charge person of the ward and head of Rajai Shahr prison insisted on their transfer. And finally at 9:00 am, they all were taken out of the ward on the pretext of being sent to the court.”

 

The informed source added: “On Monday, July 20, when the three political prisoners were sent to the Evin Prison Prosecutor’s Office, a new case was filed against them. And Ministry of Intelligence agents threatened them with transfer to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. While, the three inmates have been in prison for more than four years without being granted even a single leave day, and accordingly, were eligible to be released under the new judiciary circular. The Ministry of intelligence, however,  prevented them from being released, and transferred them to an unknown location.”

 

It needs to be mentioned that the Ministry of Intelligence has opened a new case against the political prisoners Payam Shakiba, Mohammad Amirkhizi and Majid Asadi, on charges of “propaganda against the regime” , for which, they appeared in Branch 6 of the Evin Prison Courthouse on Monday, July 21, 2010, and rejected the charge.

 

These political prisoners, who have been in prison without a single day off since February 2017, should have been released under the new circular of the judiciary. Their release, however, has been sabotaged by the Ministry of Intelligence with filing a new case against them and a bail of 300 million tomans.
