Suri Babaei Chegini was arrested in Qazvin; she went on hunger strike

Breathing in a Confinement: Suri Babaei Chegini, a civil activist living in Qazvin, was arrested on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, following the raid of security agents on her brother’s house and transferred to Evin Prison. Later, on a phone call to her family, she announced her hunger strike.
According to “Breathing in a Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Suri Babaei Chegini, a civil activist in Qazvin, was arrested and taken to Evin Prison on Wednesday night at 21:30, after security agents raided his brother’s house.
According to an informed source, 8 security agents, including 2 female agents and 6 male agents raided her brother’s house. After searching the house, the agents confiscated their personal belongings including her own mobile phone and those of his brother’s family.
In an audio file of Ms. Suri Babai, which was published by her husband, she announced her hunger strike in protest against her illegal arrest. In this audio file, Suri Babaei says: “Because I believe that I am rightful, I have started a hunger strike to protest my arrest.”
On July 12, Suri Babaei Chegini protested against the mandatory hijab and demanded equality by publishing a video removing her headscarf in the street.
It should be noted that, on April 9, 2022, Suri Babaei Chegini had been summoned to Branch 2 of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Mohammadiyah, to defend herself against the accusation of “propaganda activity against the regime”.
