The political prisoner Mohammad Nourizad was granted a sick leave

Breathing in Confinement: Today, Thursday, July 8, the political prisoner in Evin Prison, Mohammad Nourizad, was granted a sick leave on bail.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, today, Thursday, July 8, 2021, the political prisoner, Mohammad Nourizad, was sent on sick leave from Evin Prison.
Mr. Nourizad was released a few hours ago with a deposit of eight hundred million tomans. His lawyer, Mohammad Hossein Aghasi, confirming the news, wrote on his twitter page: “It is weird that they did not consider one person’s bail sufficient, so that I and my client’s brother submitted the bail. Mr. Nourizad must start his treatment on Saturday.”
Mohammad Nourizad, a screenwriter, and journalist who had previously been detained after the 2009 nationwide protests, was arrested again in Mashhad, after signing a statement known as “14-signature statement” calling for Ali Khamenei to resign.
Mohammad Nourizad’s case was tried in two parts. The first part, was tried in Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad, presided over by Judge Mansouri, in which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison aswell as 3 years of exile to Izeh, and 3 years ban from leaving the country. This sentence was later reduced to 15 years in prison, 2 years of exile to Izeh, as well as a 2-year ban on leaving the country, by Branch 35 of the Court of Appeals in Khorasan Razavi Province.
The second part of Mr. Nourizad’s case was tried in the criminal court, in which Mr. Nourizad was sentenced to eight months in prison as well as 148 lashes and deportation to Tabas on charges of “disturbing public order and spreading lies.” This part of his sentence, was upheld in the Court of Appeals of Khorasan Razavi Province.
It is noteworthy that Mohammad Nourizad’s son, Ali Nourizad, was also arrested and sentenced to three and a half years in prison, for participating in the January 2020 rallies in protest against shooting down of Ukrainian plane. To serve his sentence, Ali Nourizad, was arrested on October 3, 2020, and transferred to the Great Tehran Penitentiary.
