Breathing in Confinement: On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at least 31 gatherings and protests movements took place in various cities across Iran by different social groups.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the 43rd week of hunger strike by political prisoners across 25 prisons known as:  “No to Execution Tuesdays”,  was held in Tehran’s Greater Prison, Evin Prison (Women’s Ward, Ward 4, Ward 6, Ward 8), Ghezel Hesar Prison (Units 3 and 4), Central Prisons in Karaj, Khorramabad, Naqadeh, Khoy, Mashhad, Saqqez, Ardabil, Qaemshahr, Urmia, Marivan, Kamyaran, Baneh, Salmas, Shiraz, Rasht, Bam, Tabriz, Arak, Kahnooj, Asadabad Prison in Isfahan, and Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

In addition, to protest over economic hardship and unimplemented Article 27 of the relevant law, people with disabilities gathered in in front of the Planning and Budget Organization in Tehran, the Management and Planning Department in Yazd, and in Chabahar. Among their slogans was, “Enough with empty promises, we have nothing to eat.”

Retirees of the Social Security Organization protested in Kermanshah against low pensions, inequality, poor living conditions, poverty, inflation, and high prices. They demanded improved pensions, welfare services, and free healthcare, chanting, “Retirees! Shout and demand your rights” and “Iran with high income, what happened to you?”

Workers at the casting company of the Tractor Manufacturing Complex in Tabriz went on strike and gathered to protest low wages and poor living conditions.

Meanwhile, drivers in Kerman gathered in front of the governor’s office to protest the blocking of their fuel cards.
