Zahra Zehtabchi released after enduring ten years of imprisonment in Evin Prison

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Tuesday, August 9, 2023, Zahra Zehtabchi, a political prisoner, was released from Evin Prison after enduring a ten-year imprisonment.
Zahra Zehtabchi was arrested on October 15, 2013, along with her husband and daughter. Finally, after enduring 14 months of solitary confinement in Cell 209 of Evin Prison, she was transferred to the women’s section of the prison.
Ms. Zehtabchi, on December 16, 2013, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Salavati, on charges of “enmity against God” and “waging war against God” through her support for the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization. After one year, through a re-trial, her sentence was reduced to 10 years of imprisonment under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code.
