Covid-19 outbreak in political women ward of Evin prison; Giti Pourfazel goes on leave

Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, July 25, Giti Pourfazel, a retired lawyer and political prisoner, was granted a leave on bail. She, after having tested positive for Covid-19, had been transferred to quarantine ward along with some other prisoners with symptoms of the disease.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, today, Sunday, July 25, 2021, Giti Pourfazel, a retired lawyer and political prisoner, was sent on leave from Evin Prison. Ms. Pourfazel was granted a leave on a bail of 200 million Tomans.
Following the outbreak of Covid-19 in the women’s ward of Evin Prison, Sepideh Kashani, Alieh Motalebzadeh, Zahra Jamali, Zeinab Hamrang, Arezoo Ghasemi, Mojgan Kavousi and Maryam Samaghani were sent on leave after being tested positive for the infection and because of their poor physical condition.
It needs to be mentioned that on Saturday, July 17, Sadra Abdullahi, husband of the prisoner Alieh Motalebzadeh, a photographer and women’s rights activist, released an audio file of his wife announcing the outbreak of Covid-19 in political women’s ward and the lack of medical care for sick prisoners.
