Ongoing detention in a state of uncertainty, for Farzad Samani and Sakar Eini in Urmia Prison

Breathing in Confinement: Farzad Samani and Sakar Eini, detained on January 2021, have been held in prison for 8 months in a state of uncertainty.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Farooq Samani, Farzad Samani’s brother, referring to the ongoing detention of these two prisoners, as well as their uncertain status, wrote on his personal page on social media: ” Despite a long time since their arrest, there has been no trial. Families and lawyers, on the bills they have submitted to the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court, and the Judge Gholami, the in-charge judge of the branch, have emphasized the unlawful and inhumane nature of their continued detention. ” However, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad, has yet to respond. So, their uncertain situation is on going.”
It should be noted that on Saturday, January 9, 2021, Farzad Samani, a master’s degree student in sociology from Mahabad, was arrested by security forces in the dormitory of Kharazmi University in Karaj. Afterward to be interrogated, he was transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia. Simultaneusly, Sakar Eini from Mahabad was also arrested by IRGC security forces in Tehran.
Security forces arrested Mr. Eini without presenting an arrest warrant or a court order. They then, transferred him to a security detention center in Urmia for interrogation. Sakar Eini is a graduate of Urmia University in the field of urban planning.
On the evening of Tuesday, June 1, Farzad Samani and Sakar Eini, after spending nearly five months in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, were transferred to the Central Prison in Urmia.
On Monday, June 14, Sakar Eini tested positive for Coronavirus in the quarantine ward of Urmia Central Prison.
So far, there has been no information on the exact reason for the arrest, as well as the charges against Farzad Samani and Sakar Eini.
